Genk youth submits 471 ideas for youth budget: 271 projects move on to the next round
In Genk, 471 proposals were submitted for the youth budget, with 271 advancing to the next stage. Youth Councillor Alessandro Cucchiara highlighted the initiative's success, noting the diverse range of ideas, from sports events to projects addressing racism. The city allocated 300,000 euros for youth-led projects, and 52 coaches will assist in developing these initiatives. Young participants, like 12-year-old Felien Nijsten, are excited to organize events, including a Halloween tour, while 17-year-old Nurhak Tasci aims to foster cultural understanding through an event on the Day Against Racism. The final project selections will be announced in January.
