Ghent puts neighborhood on new street signs: "Can strengthen its own identity"

In Ghent, new street signs will include the name of the district to enhance local identity. This change will apply to all new signs and those that need replacement. Mayor Mathias De Clercq emphasized that while the signs help with navigation, they also strengthen community identity. However, a complete overhaul of existing signs is not feasible due to costs. The initiative will first be visible on new street names, such as Will Ferdypad and Blauwe Vogeltuin, which were recently approved. The city aims to implement this gradually as part of its street naming policy.
