Prisoner (28) who escaped from Hoogstraten prison a year and a half ago, arrested on bus in Wommelgem

A prisoner who escaped from Hoogstraten prison last May has been recaptured. He was spotted on a De Lijn bus in Wommelgem. The 28-year-old man had been sentenced to three years for drug-related offenses and escaped without violence. He managed to flee by jumping over a gate and getting into a waiting getaway car. After 1.5 years on the run, he was apprehended by a rapid response team on the bus and taken back to Antwerp prison to serve the remainder of his sentence.
