Government advanced one million euros to firefighters
The government has expedited over one million euros in payments to firefighting corporations in regions heavily impacted by rural fires. This initiative aims to assist with extraordinary expenses incurred during firefighting efforts. Minister Luís Neves emphasized the importance of ensuring that firefighters have the necessary resources during peak periods of engagement. He noted that delays in reimbursements could hinder firefighting activities. Additionally, the Integrated Command for Prevention and Operations (CIPO) was established to mitigate fire risks by clearing accumulated combustible materials and improving access routes. Although CIPO's activities are currently paused, they will resume after consultations with local authorities regarding future needs.
