Government brought forward payment of one million euros to fire brigades

The government has advanced over one million euros to firefighting corporations in regions heavily impacted by rural fires to cover extraordinary expenses. Minister Luís Neves emphasized the importance of ensuring that firefighters have the necessary resources during peak operational periods. He noted that delays in reimbursements could hinder firefighting efforts. Additionally, Neves highlighted the establishment of the Integrated Command for Prevention and Operations (CIPO) in Leiria, aimed at reducing fire risks by clearing debris and improving access routes. The CIPO has successfully cleared approximately 40,000 kilometers of forest road networks. Future activities of the CIPO will be evaluated in collaboration with local authorities.
