Government says that PRR is a "conquest" but there is still work to be done
The Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion, Castro Almeida, stated that the total execution of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) is a national achievement, but emphasized the need for further verification and certification work. He noted that while all milestones were met by August 31, there is still significant documentation work to be done. Almeida urged parliament members to view the PRR as a victory for Portugal. The government plans to amend contracts with contractors to extend deadlines to December 31, 2027, ensuring continued funding. Nearly €5 billion will be disbursed to beneficiaries by 2027, with €270 million already paid this week. The PRR aims to support economic recovery and job creation following the COVID-19 pandemic.
