Spanish government approves 30 million euros in aid for victims of the Urda train disaster
The Spanish government has approved a €30 million aid package for victims of the Urda train disaster, which resulted in 69 fatalities. Transport Minister Oscar Puente announced that the aid will include direct payments of over €72,121 for each deceased and varying amounts for injuries based on severity. Additionally, the government will reduce train frequency between Madrid and Seville until a new safety system is implemented, addressing failures in the current system. Measures will also be introduced to ensure better validation of operational decisions to prevent future accidents.
