Government legislates for those who protest and for the "silent majority" that is at home
The Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Miguel Pinto Luz, emphasized that the government listens to both protesters and the 'silent majority' who suffer at home. During a parliamentary session, he acknowledged the concerns of those demonstrating but insisted on the need to legislate for those who do not protest. Pinto Luz highlighted that many people are silently struggling and seeking housing without voicing their issues publicly. He responded to a proposal from the Chega party regarding lowering the threshold for 'moderate rent' but defended the government's current measures, which include tax incentives for landlords with rents up to 2,300 euros. He argued that the existing policies aim to address the housing crisis effectively, without dismissing the silent majority's plight.
