Government mobilizes an additional 10 million to support farmers
The Portuguese government has announced a new financial aid of 10 million euros for farmers affected by wildfires this year. This support aims to help restore the productive capacity of farms that suffered significant losses due to rural fires between May 1 and October 15. Eligible expenses include recovery of damaged crops and infrastructure, with investments up to 400,000 euros. The first 10,000 euros of eligible expenses will be fully funded, while the remaining costs will be partially covered depending on whether the farmers have agricultural insurance. The Minister of Agriculture emphasized the importance of supporting farmers to recover quickly and maintain agricultural activity in affected regions.
