Government intends to move forward with "another wave of PPP" in health

The government plans to launch another round of public-private partnerships (PPP) in healthcare, aiming to expedite the process as part of state reform. Health Minister Ana Paula Martins emphasized the complexity of current legislation, which can delay projects for five to seven years. The new PPPs will be limited and focused on local health units where state and partner collaboration is feasible. Additionally, Martins announced that a decree defining fees for contracted doctors will soon be published, as current contracts are set to expire at the year's end. During a parliamentary hearing, concerns were raised about potential underinvestment in the public health system, which Martins denied, asserting that the government is not concealing any disinvestment.
