Gretchen disappeared without a trace. Her son has already been convicted twice, he wants to be exonerated
The case of Karl Pfeffer, accused of murdering and dismembering his mother, has returned to the Warsaw Court of Appeals. During the first hearing, he requested to summon witnesses, including a Turkish acquaintance and a priest, but the prosecutor opposed these requests. The prosecution alleges that Pfeffer killed his mother in March 2020 and disposed of her body in the Vistula River. Despite the absence of the victim's remains, Pfeffer was initially sentenced to 25 years in prison in July 2023. However, the appellate court overturned this verdict due to improper court composition. A retrial began in November 2024, where Pfeffer retracted his confession and claimed his mother might still be alive. In June 2025, he was again sentenced to 25 years in a therapeutic setting, along with a compensation order for the victim's sister. The appeal against this ruling is currently under review.
