Strike in the public sector with 80% participation in health

On Monday, public administration workers in Portugal staged a 24-hour strike, achieving an 80% participation rate in healthcare and 60% in education by 4 PM. The strike, organized by the STTS union, disrupted scheduled surgeries and outpatient consultations. Minimum services were maintained for essential treatments. The union plans additional strikes on November 30 and December 2, demanding negotiations with the government regarding workers' rights and benefits, including a meal card worth €10.20. The ongoing collective agreement anticipates salary increases and adjustments to meal subsidies until 2029.
