Major Dutch websites offline out of fear of hacks due to vulnerable PHP

Several websites, including those of police union ACP and pharmacy association KNMP, are offline for maintenance due to critical vulnerabilities in PHP. These vulnerabilities allow remote control of servers, affecting around 70% of websites globally. While some companies like Picnic have opted to keep their services running, others, including NS, report no issues and are prepared for updates. The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has not detected any active exploitation of these vulnerabilities but advises organizations to prepare for updates. PHP plans to release a crucial security update addressing two critical vulnerabilities, urging companies to take their PHP-dependent services offline as a precaution.
