Guterres warns that the situation in Palestine is out of control

UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated that the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories is "out of control" and called for a political solution for lasting peace. He highlighted the severe restrictions on essential aid in Gaza and the increasing difficulties in implementing the Security Council's plan. Guterres condemned daily attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinian communities, emphasizing their aim to displace residents. He also expressed concern over attacks on journalists and diplomats, labeling the situation as unsustainable. Guterres urged for an end to the occupation and the realization of a two-state solution, while stressing the urgent need for humanitarian funding, particularly $450 million for the World Food Programme to assist the Palestinian population.
