Housing: BE addresses complaints to the UN and Council of Europe about police burdens

The Left Bloc (BE) has filed complaints with the UN and the Council of Europe regarding police actions during housing protests in Portugal, urging urgent intervention. The complaints, signed by BE leaders, document police violence in Lisbon and Porto, calling for independent investigations into the incidents. The BE requests the UN to seek clarifications from the Portuguese government about the police operations and to ensure the protection of peaceful assembly rights. Similarly, the BE urges the Council of Europe to monitor the situation and demand explanations from Portuguese authorities regarding the use of force. The complaints have also been communicated to EU officials, emphasizing that the repression of peaceful protests should not be viewed as an internal matter.
