Hack at software supplier for local authorities: municipalities warn of phishing

Various municipalities are alerting residents about a security breach at software provider Vanden Broele, affecting over 100 local governments. A hacker accessed the eSignFlow signature module on October 22 and 23, leading to unauthorized data access. CEO Bram Van Impe stated that while most municipalities experienced minimal data leakage, some faced more significant issues. The compromised data mainly consisted of metadata, with no unauthorized signatures confirmed. Vanden Broele has taken immediate action to secure the system, including blocking the hacker's access and reporting the incident to relevant authorities. Residents are advised to be vigilant against unexpected communications requesting personal or payment information.
