Hadházy criticized that the former Minister of Defense was also present at the ministry's commemoration on October 23, Magyar Péter also reacted
Ákos Hadházy criticized the presence of former defense minister Tibor Benkő at a commemorative event for the 1956 revolution, questioning the ministry's interpretation of the regime change. Benkő, who served as chief of staff and defense minister under Orbán, was seen in photos from the event. Péter Magyar defended Benkő, stating that former chiefs of staff have always been invited to state celebrations since 1990. Hadházy also mentioned that Benkő was recently elected to lead the Budapest Honvéd Sports Association, with claims that the current minister recommended him for the position. The ministry responded that such appointments fall under the association's jurisdiction.
