Hackers attacked the AfD. Over 400,000 messages stolen

Hackers have stolen over 420,000 emails from the right-wing populist party Alternative for Germany (AfD), as reported by German newspaper Bild. The breach included sensitive documents, such as identity cards and bank statements of party officials. AfD confirmed the attack but did not disclose its extent. The stolen data amounts to approximately 281 gigabytes, with notable senders including party vice-chair Alice Weidel and Bundestag members Alexander Gauland and Leif-Erik Holm. The party's spokesperson stated that the attack occurred in September 2026, affecting mostly inactive email accounts, and assured that current accounts were not compromised.
