Soon, more than half of the ambulances will be over 10 years old

The aging vehicle fleet of Hungary's ambulance service is highlighted, with projections indicating that by January 1, 2027, over half of the fleet will be over ten years old. Currently, the National Ambulance Service operates 1,068 vehicles, with an average age of 8.63 years. Preparations are underway for the acquisition of 36 new type C ambulances, but no purchases have been made under a new funding system of 70 billion HUF established in 2026. The Ministry of Health has faced criticism for not engaging with representative trade unions, and discussions with the Hungarian Ambulance Workers' Association are planned for this week.
