The world's first cancer vaccine could soon be available.

The world's first cancer vaccine has successfully completed its Phase 3 clinical trial, showing a 42% reduction in mortality or disease recurrence risk among over 1,000 melanoma patients. Developed by Moderna and Merck, this mRNA-based vaccine could revolutionize melanoma treatment, which is one of the most aggressive forms of skin cancer. The trial involved 1,137 patients with surgically removed tumors, comparing those who received the personalized vaccine alongside standard treatment to those who received only standard therapy. Results indicated that 82% of vaccinated participants lived without tumor recurrence, compared to 70% in the control group. Regulatory discussions for approval are underway, but the process may take years.
