Balázs Hankó decided on billions from the ministerial framework during the pre-election periods

Former Minister Hankó Balázs, a member of Fidesz, had authority over the distribution of funds from the National Cultural Fund and the National Research, Development and Innovation Fund. An analysis revealed that a significant portion of funding was allocated before elections, particularly in 2022 and 2026. This year, 82% of the funds were distributed before the April elections, with a notable increase in funding decisions compared to previous years. Hankó is under investigation for politically motivated distribution of approximately 17 billion HUF from the NKA, and his detention was extended, meaning he will spend the holidays in prison.
