The government will triple the limit for tax-free transfers.
Starting in 2027, the Hungarian government will triple the limit for tax-free bank transfers from 50,000 HUF to 150,000 HUF. This change aims to encourage digital payments among citizens. However, while the tax-free limit increases, the maximum transaction fee will rise from 20,000 HUF to 30,000 HUF, affecting larger transfers. The government intends to collect more from transaction fees, particularly impacting businesses that often make larger transfers. Detailed regulations are yet to be released, pending the introduction of the legislative proposal.
