"Do what you think": the Interior's lack of control led to a clash between the Police and the Civil Guard during an assault in Ceuta
The judge investigating the mass immigration into Ceuta heard testimonies from police and civil guard commanders about a lack of coordination during the crisis on July 30. The police chief proposed closing the border to manage the influx, but the civil guard commander insisted on keeping it open, leading to a confrontation. Both commanders reported insufficient resources to handle the situation, with only a few officers available. They also noted that prior warnings about a potential mass entry were not communicated effectively. Additionally, the civil guard commander observed six Moroccan military vessels near Spanish waters the night before the crisis, raising concerns about their purpose. The judge is reviewing footage from around 40 cameras in the area.
