The National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) conducted a search at a Budapest foundation suspected of misusing public funds for campaign activities ahead of the 2024 local elections. Investigators targeted five locations to gather evidence related to allegations of budget fraud. The foundation received a non-repayable grant of 5 million HUF intended for promoting civic traditions and encouraging public participation. However, it is believed that the funds were used to produce political campaign materials, including distributing printed posters, which was not permitted under the grant's terms.
