Heat director Michael Mann accidentally shoots himself in the leg

American director Michael Mann was briefly hospitalized after accidentally shooting himself in the leg while at a shooting range in Los Angeles. The incident occurred when he attempted to secure his weapon, which discharged while in its holster. Mann sustained a superficial injury but was released from the hospital later that day. The 83-year-old is known for his work on the TV series Miami Vice and films like Heat, The Insider, and Collateral. He is currently developing a sequel to Heat, based on a novel he co-authored with Meg Gardiner in 2022.
