Heineken must pay 111 million euros to competitor for abuse of power in Greek market
Heineken is ordered to pay 111 million euros to Greek competitor MTB for abusing its market power from 1998 to 2014. The Amsterdam court found that Heineken's subsidiary, AB, engaged in practices that harmed MTB by forcing retailers to sell only its beer and exclude competitors, leading to inflated prices and lost revenue for MTB. The compensation includes 43.3 million euros in direct lost income and 67.8 million euros in lost interest. Heineken previously faced a fine from the Greek competition authority in 2015 for similar violations. The court rejected Heineken's argument regarding the statute of limitations.
