Helsinki will host the European Athletics Championships for the fourth time in 2030

Helsinki will host the European Athletics Championships for the fourth time in 2030, as announced by European Athletics. The city was selected over Brussels, with the historic Olympic Stadium being a key factor. The event marks the return of the championships to Helsinki after previous editions in 1971, 1994, and 2012. The president of European Athletics expressed confidence in the city's ability to provide a memorable experience for athletes and spectators. Finland's athletics federation president highlighted the successful three-year project leading to this decision. Portugal has won 44 medals in European Championships, including three at the recent event in Birmingham.
