Memorial bench for Katja (31) damaged during works along the Schelde in Hemiksem: "It feels like desecration"

A memorial bench for Katja Nuyts, who died in a jetski accident, was damaged during construction work along the Schelde river. Her family had established the bench in her memory with the municipality's permission. Katja's sister, Michelle, expressed feelings of helplessness and described the damage as akin to grave desecration. The family was unaware of the construction activities, which have previously led to vandalism of the bench. The Flemish Waterway is currently investigating the incident.
