The Stalin statue has fallen again in Budapest after seventy years
On the anniversary of the 1956 revolution, a replica of the Stalin statue was toppled again in Budapest, now named Csizma tér. The event featured speeches, a light show, and historical projections, emphasizing the significance of the revolution. Mayor Gergely Karácsony highlighted the importance of recognizing power dynamics and celebrating freedom collectively. The event aimed to connect current generations with past experiences of liberation and oppression. Following the ceremony, a spectacular light show reenacted the statue's fall, with plans for a repeat performance on October 24 and 25.
