Despite wanting to, he cannot personally hear György Matolcsy in the parliamentary inquiry committee.
The parliamentary committee investigating the MNB case will not hear György Matolcsy in person on Thursday, as confirmed by committee chairman Attila Csőszi. Matolcsy, the former central bank governor arrested on October 23, had previously indicated his willingness to attend a hearing on November 5. However, following his arrest, the situation changed. The Central Prosecutor's Office stated that legal conditions for the hearing were not met, although it suggested that the hearing could still occur via telecommunications or within the prison. The committee will decide how to proceed regarding Matolcsy's hearing. Matolcsy is accused of economic fraud and document forgery, with five suspects in total, including his son, Adam Matolcsy, who is currently at an unknown location. Investigations into MNB-related abuses have been ongoing since February, focusing on the management of central bank foundations, with significant documentation provided to parliament recently.
