Historical private cemetery of Bokrijk renovated, crucifix restored

The historic cemetery of Bokrijk has been renovated, with restored gravestones and a renovated crucifix. Students from Atlas College created new nameplates. The cemetery, established in 1911, features 221 graves of brothers. The restoration included repairing damaged gravestones, the wall, and the entrance gate. The crucifix, made of cast iron and decorative concrete, underwent significant restoration due to weather damage. The project received support from the Province of Limburg, emphasizing the importance of heritage preservation for future generations. The cemetery will be open to the public on October 30 and November 1, with plans for quarterly openings starting in 2027.
