Man who killed girlfriend in Mafra remains in preventive detention

A man who fatally stabbed his girlfriend in a domestic violence incident in Mafra has been placed in preventive detention. The crime occurred on Wednesday, and the suspect faces charges of qualified homicide and domestic violence, as well as aggravated threats against his mother, who reportedly witnessed the attack. The Public Prosecutor's Office announced that the man used a knife to inflict fatal wounds to his girlfriend's abdomen. The authorities were alerted to the situation around 18:25. Following a preliminary hearing, the prosecution requested preventive detention, which the court approved. The investigation is being conducted by the Specialized Section for Domestic Violence in Sintra, supported by the Judicial Police.
