Hong Kong investigates aesthetic treatment with cadaver skin
Hong Kong health authorities are investigating the illegal sale and use of Elravie Re2O, a South Korean injectable aesthetic treatment derived from human collagen. The product lacks health registration and poses risks of pathogen transmission and immune reactions. Clinics have been administering it without medical supervision, charging up to HKD 15,000 for three sessions. Inspections led to the seizure of regulated substances and the arrest of a woman. The injectable is subject to local organ transplant laws, with penalties of up to two years in prison for illegal sales. Experts warn that processing does not eliminate all cellular material, risking infections and immune rejection. Elravie Re2O is not authorized in mainland China, Taiwan, or the UK, and its use raises legal concerns in South Korea.
