Hong Kong investigates illegal cosmetic treatment using human cadaver skin

Hong Kong's health authorities are investigating the illegal use of a South Korean injectable aesthetic treatment made from collagen derived from human corpses. The product, Elravie Re2O, lacks health registration and poses risks of pathogen transmission and immune reactions. Clinics have been found offering this treatment without medical supervision, charging up to HKD 15,000 for three sessions. Inspections led to the seizure of regulated substances and the arrest of a woman. The injectable is subject to local organ transplant laws, with penalties of up to two years in prison for illegal sale. Experts warn that the processing does not eliminate all original cellular material, risking infections and immune rejection.
