Long lines at the ballot boxes – participation is exceptionally high in Serbia

In Serbia, the early parliamentary elections are witnessing significant voter turnout, with 19.72% participation reported by 10 AM. This is notably higher than the 9.94% recorded during the last elections in December 2023. Long queues formed at polling stations and border crossings early in the morning. The elections feature 18 lists, including the ruling Serbian Progressive Party led by Aleksandar Vucic and the newly formed Student List. The Vojvodina Hungarian Alliance is also participating independently. Vucic resigned from the presidency to run as prime minister, facing strong competition from the Student List, which could challenge the established political order. The outcome will be determined after the polls close at 8 PM.
