Twenty centimeters of snow fell at one of the Hungarians' favorite holiday spots

Greece experienced an unexpected winter-like weather in late October, with snowfall in mountainous regions affecting transportation. Reports indicated up to 20 centimeters of snow in parts of the southwestern Thessaly mountains, particularly in Evritania and Fthiotida. Authorities mandated the use of snow chains on several mountain roads, especially around Karpenisi. The sudden drop in temperature, from 17°C to 8.4°C in just 24 hours, was accompanied by heavy rain and strong northern winds, leading to a rapid transformation of the landscape. This snowfall follows earlier occurrences in mid-October, with significant precipitation noted in various regions, including Crete, which experienced extreme rainfall.
