AI is expected to affect 40% of jobs worldwide
Kristalina Georgieva, the IMF's managing director, highlighted the significant impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on global employment, predicting that 40% of jobs could be affected soon, with 60% in advanced economies. She noted that while some jobs will disappear, others will be redefined, particularly affecting routine roles often held by younger workers. Georgieva emphasized the need for protective measures against AI's risks, which could outweigh its benefits. She also discussed the resilience of the global economy amid challenges like rising energy prices and inflation, while warning about increasing debt levels. Georgieva urged major economies to fulfill their responsibilities to avoid needing IMF assistance. She expressed concerns about Europe's slower pace of growth and its aging population.
