A temporary moon has been discovered around Earth by a Hungarian astronomer
Hungarian astronomer Krisztián Sárneczky discovered a new temporary moon, designated 2026 QQ8, while analyzing data from the Piszkéstető Observatory. This object is likely a temporarily captured asteroid, deviated by Earth's gravity, functioning like a moon for a limited time before leaving Earth's vicinity. Previously, only two such objects were known to have orbited Earth completely. The 2026 QQ8 is expected to arrive in spring 2026 and depart in early 2027, but further observations are needed for a better understanding of its nature and movement.
