Elderly man thrown into well: couple judged in Beja on Tuesday

A couple accused of robbing, kidnapping, and murdering an 80-year-old man in Aljustrel will begin trial on Tuesday. Both defendants, aged 40, are in preventive detention and face charges of robbery, aggravated kidnapping, and qualified homicide. They allegedly planned to steal money from their neighbor, the victim, and attacked him with a blade. After taking money and the victim's car keys, they placed him in the trunk and drove around while he was still alive. Eventually, they disposed of the victim in a well and abandoned the scene. The male suspect was later arrested for attempted robbery, where he confessed to the murder, while the female suspect reported the crime without admitting her involvement.
