Elderly man arrested for causing fire by burning waste

An elderly man was arrested by the GNR for causing a forest fire in Carrazeda de Ansiães while burning waste. The fire got out of control, leading to police intervention. The 71-year-old was detained on Monday, and the incident was reported to the Vila Flor Judicial Court. The GNR emphasized that burning waste without local authority permission is considered intentional fire use, and the responsible party must remain on-site until the fire is fully extinguished.
