IGAI opens process after police interventions in Lisbon and Porto on Sunday morning

The Inspectorate-General of Internal Administration (IGAI) has initiated an administrative process following police interventions in Lisbon and Porto that resulted in injuries. This decision comes after public reports and images of the incidents, which involved the dispersal of housing rights protests by the PSP using batons and dogs. The IGAI aims to evaluate the adopted procedures and is awaiting information from the PSP and the Public Prosecutor's Office, which has also opened an inquiry. The protests, which lasted over two hours, led to 33 injuries and detentions for disobedience. Demonstrators are demanding changes to housing laws and increased public housing. Left-wing parties criticized the police actions, while the ruling PSD party supported the police response.
