Gender Equality will have a record budget of 22.9 million

In 2027, the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality (CIG) will have its largest budget ever, amounting to €22.93 million, marking a 235% increase from 2026. This significant rise is attributed to a structural change in funding for support services for victims of domestic violence and human trafficking, shifting from European funds to direct tax revenues. The budget will ensure the continuity of services, including salary updates for professionals, and will introduce a national multilingual helpline available 24/7. Additionally, new psychological support services for children and youth victims in Lisbon will be established, alongside a new program funded by EEA Grants aimed at preventing violence and protecting victims.
