From now on, the names of 25,843 victims who were deported will resonate in Kazerne Dossin in Mechelen.

The Kazerne Dossin memorial in Mechelen now features the names of 25,843 Holocaust victims, recorded by volunteers over 2.5 years. This audio monument, totaling 50 hours, plays continuously in a dedicated space for reflection. The project, titled "Every Name Counts," emphasizes the importance of remembering individual stories behind the statistics. Alongside the audio installation, a photography exhibition by Lieve Blanquaert showcases portraits of participants who recorded the names, linking them to the victims' stories. The memorial serves as a place for remembrance for families without graves to visit.
