Meteorite found in Mali is 4.1 billion years old

A Mars meteorite discovered in Mali in September 2022, named Teghaza 001, is at least 4.1 billion years old, making it one of the oldest Mars meteorites found on Earth. Researchers from NASA highlight its unique composition, which includes feldspar and pyroxene, and suggests the presence of water on Mars. This meteorite differs from previous finds, as it comes from a region of Mars not previously sampled. While it indicates that early Mars had conditions suitable for life, it does not confirm whether life ever existed there.
