In Morocco, the 'Donald J. Trump Highway' showcases Rabat's ambitions in Western Sahara

The Donald J. Trump Highway, connecting Tiznit and Dakhla, has improved travel for truck drivers, with a new gas station in Bounaamane enhancing convenience. Mohammed, a local, expressed satisfaction with the upgraded road, which has transformed the journey from the old National Route 1 into a faster, safer route. The new expressway, completed in late 2024, has encouraged businesses to utilize this route, significantly reducing travel time and fuel costs. Amer Zghinou from the Moroccan Association of Intercontinental Road Transport noted that the improvements save hours and hundreds of liters of diesel per trip, contributing to the economic development of southern Morocco.
