Incidents in the Strait of Hormuz. Tankers "caught fire"
Three tankers have exploded today due to unauthorized navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, according to the IRGC. The vessels reportedly disabled navigation systems and ignored warnings before entering dangerous areas. One tanker carrying 2 million barrels of oil hit a mine, while another was struck by an unidentified projectile. Iran blamed the U.S. military for supporting ships trying to bypass Iranian blockades. The Omani navy evacuated 25 crew members from a burning tanker. Iran also claimed to have destroyed an American drone in the region, a claim not confirmed by U.S. forces. Iran has blocked the Strait since the onset of conflict in February, asserting control over this vital shipping route.
