India launches annual measures to combat air pollution
India has implemented annual measures to combat toxic air pollution in New Delhi, a city with severe pollution levels. Recent monitoring showed pollution levels at 233 micrograms per cubic meter, significantly exceeding safe limits. The government has banned open waste burning and restricted the use of coal and wood in food establishments. Previous pollution levels peaked at 846 micrograms, raising health concerns, especially for children. New restrictions will take effect on November 1, including increased parking fees and remote work for public employees to reduce traffic emissions. Stricter construction regulations will also be enforced, with a complete ban on construction activities during winter months.
