Bankruptcies in Portugal stabilize in 2026, but Allianz Trade predicts a 2% increase in 2027
According to Allianz Trade, Portugal is expected to end 2026 with around 2,250 business insolvencies, remaining stable compared to the previous year. The construction and services sectors account for most insolvencies, with microenterprises being the most affected. A slight increase to 2,300 insolvencies is predicted for 2027. Despite recent declines in insolvency rates, a sustained recovery is not yet confirmed. Globally, insolvencies are projected to rise by 5% in 2026 and 1% in 2027, influenced by economic growth below expectations and high production costs. The analysis indicates that macroeconomic conditions remain the primary drivers of insolvencies, with AI adoption not significantly linked to insolvency trends.
