Iraqi court jails French nationals for belonging to IS
An Iraqi court sentenced seven French nationals to prison for their affiliation with the Islamic State group, with six receiving life sentences and one getting 15 years. The judge commuted death sentences to life imprisonment, considering their youth. The defendants were part of a larger group transferred from Syria, which included individuals linked to past IS attacks. Iraq continues to address the aftermath of IS's actions, including uncovering mass graves and dealing with the consequences of terrorism. The country has issued numerous sentences for terrorism-related offenses over the years.
