Iryo defends the reliability of its trains, including the accident one, on the Madrid-Seville line

Iryo defends the reliability of its trains following the Urda accident, asserting they use the same safety technology as other operators. The train involved was halted due to a failure in the LZB signaling system, which occurred shortly before the collision with a Renfe AVE train. Iryo claims it has increased maintenance investment by 10% since operations began. The company emphasizes that the LZB system's restart takes three to four minutes, and the train's crew followed protocol by contacting maintenance. Transport Minister Óscar Puente stated that the Iryo train blocking the track was not the cause of the accident, but noted potential disincentives for Iryo to invest in LZB improvements due to its planned replacement by the ERTMS system in 2027.
